Marlowe (2023)

Set against the sun bleached glamour of late 1930s Bay City, Marlowe is a richly atmospheric crime thriller that brings one of literature's most famous private detectives back to the screen. Liam Neeson delivers a world weary, soulful performance as Philip Marlowe, the sharp tongued investigator created by legendary author Raymond Chandler. The story begins when Clare Cavendish, a glamorous and secretive heiress played by Diane Kruger, walks into Marlowe's office and asks him to find her former lover, a man who has suddenly vanished. What looks like a routine missing person case quickly pulls Marlowe into a shadowy world of Hollywood power, hidden fortunes, dangerous women, and betrayals that reach far higher than he ever expected. Directed by Academy Award winner Neil Jordan and co written with Oscar winning screenwriter William Monahan, Marlowe is based on the acclaimed novel The Black Eyed Blonde by John Banville. The film features a stellar international cast, including Jessica Lange as a fading screen star, alongside Danny Huston, Alan Cumming, and Colm Meaney. With its stylish period design, moody cinematography, and a mystery that keeps you guessing until the final scene, Marlowe is a must watch for fans of classic detective stories, film noir, and smart crime dramas.
