Role Play
Role Play is a 2024 action comedy thriller about a marriage, a secret, and one very bad date night. Emma Brackett has the life she always wanted: a loving husband, two kids, and a comfortable house in suburban New Jersey. The frequent business trips she takes are not for the job her family thinks she has. Emma is a highly paid assassin, and after seven years of marriage her husband Dave still has no idea. To celebrate their anniversary and shake off the routine, the couple plans a night of role play at a hotel bar, meeting as strangers. Emma arrives first and catches the attention of a charming older man who recognizes her face from somewhere far more dangerous than the suburbs. He knows about the bounty on her head, and within minutes the game they invented for fun becomes the most honest conversation of their marriage. Dave learns who he really married, Emma's old employers close in, and the two of them are pulled across borders while trying to keep their children safe. Directed by Thomas Vincent and written by Seth Owen, Role Play stars Kaley Cuoco as Emma and David Oyelowo as Dave, alongside Bill Nighy as the stranger in the bar, Connie Nielsen as the woman hunting her, and Rudi Dharmalingam. The film runs about 100 minutes and moves quickly between fight scenes, dry humor, and the awkward comedy of a husband suddenly trying to keep up with his wife. If you enjoy spy comedies about couples with secrets, in the spirit of Mr. and Mrs. Smith or True Lies, this one belongs on your watchlist. It works perfectly as a light Friday night pick: fast, funny, and never too heavy. Watch Role Play in HD on Tesliya, with subtitles, on your phone, tablet, laptop, or smart TV.
